I was unfortunately home with a migraine during class and was unable to be part of the video creating and editing, but I was excited to hear about the fun and success my classmates had learning about video creation today! I have done some video editing in the past for various projects and after today I was inspired to look back on some of my old projects; I was surprised to find that I haven’t even downloaded a video editor on my new laptop!
I had previously been an avid user of Windows Movie Maker however after talking to my peers I have decided to take the leap and try out something new – OpenShot! (Anything has to be better than the Google MovieStudio editor). While many of my peers may be able to use their fancy exclusive IMovie – I was doing some research into other options and have heard very positive reviews about the free version of OpenShot for non-Apple devices.
Moving into a post-pandemic world I think being comfortable on camera and having the ability to record, edit and work with media creators is going to become more and more important. I’m hoping to never move to a completely online teaching style but I’m excited to know that I’m building the skills to provide my students with multiple means of learning and reviewing material both inside and outside my classroom. I can’t wait to whip up and bedazzle some videos to blow my future students’ minds.
Here’s a cheeky sneak peek of one clip of a video I will be making on OpenShot for my free inquiry project!
